FAQ
Q: Can only one channel of a dual-fuel injector be repaired?
A: No. The 10R-7236 is an integral, inseparable assembly. The gasoline and gas channels are integrated in terms of mechanical structure, seals, and electrical interfaces. If one channel (such as the gas valve) suffers physical damage or leakage, repairing a single channel is technically and safely infeasible. The entire injector assembly must be replaced to ensure the integrity and safety of the dual-fuel system.
Q: Is it normal to feel a slight decrease in power when switching from gasoline to natural gas?
A: This is normal. Natural gas has a lower volumetric energy density than gasoline and occupies part of the intake volume (gas phase) when entering the cylinder, resulting in a slight decrease in engine volumetric efficiency. Therefore, under the same operating conditions, the power output of natural gas mode is usually about 10%-15% lower than that of gasoline mode. This is determined by physical characteristics. A high-quality dual-fuel system ECU will try to compensate for this difference by optimizing the ignition timing.
Q: Are there any special maintenance precautions for using a dual-fuel vehicle?
A: 1. Spark plugs: Since natural gas combustion temperatures are higher, it is recommended to use iridium spark plugs optimized for natural gas and shorten the replacement interval (e.g., check and replace every 20,000 kilometers). 2. Engine oil: Engine oil still needs to be changed according to the gasoline engine's cycle, but a high-quality synthetic oil can be used. 3. Gas system seals: Regularly check the airtightness of the gas lines, pressure regulator, and injector seals, usually done by a professional using a leak detector during maintenance. 4. Continue using gasoline: Even if you primarily use natural gas, you should periodically (e.g., once a month) drive a distance using gasoline to keep the gasoline system and injectors clear.
